Weight Loss

At Oceane Medical Aesthetics and Wellness, we are here to help you achieve your weight loss goals. When you join our injectable weight loss program, you are not only getting a “skinny shot” but a revamp in your lifestyle. Our patients are treated by Janet Trabosh, PA-C, a highly qualified physicians assistant who is certified in anti-aging. Janet is supervised by Mark D. Epstein, M.D., F.A.C.S., a dual board certified plastic surgeon and our medical director. Beginning with your consultation, we go through your medical history, draw blood, review nutrition, and go over expectations to ensure you are a candidate. Once approved, you will visit us weekly for your skinny shot and we will monitor your progress. Once you are ready to come off the medication, we hope that you have adopted healthier lifestyle habits to keep you healthy and happy. Whether you simply need to lose weight or you need to lower your BMI for surgery, we are here to support you on your weight loss journey!

What is a “skinny shot”?

We utilize two different drugs: Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. Both medications are glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists which reduces cravings and makes you feel fuller quicker by delaying gastric emptying. Some patients do better with one or the other medication which is why we offer both. We also utilize a special “lipo-burn” vitamin preparation which is also injected separately at the same time as the skinny shot.

Is Semaglutide the same as Ozempic?

Semaglutide is the generic form of Ozempic. Ozempic is the brand name.

Is Tirzepatide the same as Mounjaro?

Tirzepatide is the generic form of Mounjaro. Mounjaro is the brand name.

How often do I need to get an injection?

Once a week given by us in the office. We can make arrangements for you to inject yourself at home three out of four weeks if desired.

How do you determine if I am a candidate and if so, what does the appointment look like?

Initial Consultation: a full medical history is obtained. Nutrition and weight loss goals area discussed. Blood work is drawn and sent to the lab.

Can I still get Semaglutide/Tirzepatide if my BMI is considered healthy?

Every patient is different and weight loss expectations are carefully reviewed and a plan is discussed.

How long do I need to stay on Semaglutide/Tirzepatide?

It is customized to an individual’s weight loss goals and success.

Are there any side effects?

Most common side effects are fullness that can lead to abdominal discomfort/bloating, gas, diarrhea and nausea.

Is there a specific diet I should stick to?

Semaglutide/Tirzepatide are part of a lifestyle change and we recommend following a healthy diet full of vegetables and lean meats. Foods to avoid are processed grains, high fat, and high sugar foods.

What happens after I complete my Semaglutide/Tirzepatide treatment?

Once off the medication your body just continues to works as it usually does. We hope through your weight loss journey you have adopted a healthy nutrition that fuels your body and a healthy mild to moderate exercise habit.

Can I get Semaglutide/Tirzepatide to lower my BMI before surgery?

Yes. It is best to see your surgeon for a consultation and find out what your optimal BMI would be and work together to develop a plan that will work for you and give you the best results for your cosmetic surgery.

Semaglutide/Tirzepatide and surgery

It is important to let your doctor know if you are taking one of these medications prior to undergoing any surgical procedure. It is generally recommended to be off this medication two weeks before surgery. As these medication slow emptying of the stomack as part of their mechanism of action, this can impact anesthesia. At two weeks off the medication, there should be no issues.
