Hormone Imbalance

Hormone Imbalance occurs when there is too much or too little of one or more hormones in your body.  Hormones are chemical messengers that regulate many processes in your body.  When one has a hormonal imbalance it can present as various symptoms.  This might include, butis not limited to insomnia, mood swings, depression, hair loss, decreased libido, dry skin, acne, diarrhea, constipation weight gain and headaches.  Utilizing tests of saliva and blood, we can together customize a plan to supplement the hormone deficiencies by mouth, topical (skin) and pellet (implanted) hormones.

The most commonly tested hormones are: cortisol, progesterone, estrogens ( E1, 2 and 3) and testosterone.

Cortisol is a stress hormone which when elevated can add to anxiety and weight gain.

Testosterone if low can cause fatigue, low libido, poor muscle tone, weight gain, hair loss. Females require a small amount of testosterone for libido, although much less than a male.

Estrogen when low can lead to brain fog, weight gain, depressed mood, night sweats, mood swings insomnia, memory issues , hair loss.

Low progesterone can lead to insomnia, anxiety.

It has also been noted that hormonal imbalance can lead to increased risk of dementia, osteoporosis and  coronary artery disease.

Women treated with hormone replacement enjoy a remarkable improvement in their overall quality and enjoyment of life. This benefits not only the woman, but also her partner and family!
